    Mera Peak and Island Peak via Amphu Laptsa Pass is one of the most famous and demanding trekking destinations of our country. Mera Peak trek with Island peak is one of the adventurous combination of treks of our country. One who loves to trek on the Himalayas of our country with the superb views of Himalayan ranges should surely be a part of this incredible journey. This trek gives the visitors an opportunity to cross the famous Amphu Laptsa Pass and explore the two ancient famous villages of Hinku and Imja Tse valley of Everest region.

     

    Standing at a height of 6460m, Mera peak offers a great trekking experience which is going to be a bit challenging and technical climb whereas Island peak is one of the easiest and straight forward climbs in the Khumbu region. The view from the summit of these two peaks is simply breathtaking as one can view the magnificent panorama of Himalayan ranges from the top of these mountains.

     

    Mera Peak and Island Peak trek offers the spectacular panoramic ranges of Himalayan vistas including some of the highest ranges of the world such as Mt. Everest (Highest mountain of the world), Lhotse, Nuptse, Pumori, Amadablam, Makalu, Annapurna, Cho-Oyu and other many beautiful ranges. One can get an opportunity to cross the famous Amphu Laptsa Pass and explore the lifestyle and culture of people living in this region. One of the major attractions of this trek is the sightseeing of Namche Bazar which is also known as the gateway of Mt. Everest.

     

    This beautiful journey starts with a scenic flight to Lukla from Kathmandu. We will then trek via Hinku valley and some dense rhododendron forests to reach the summit of Mera Peak. After reaching the summit of Mera Peak we will follow the less crowded route of Makalu Base camp and cross the Amphu Laptsa Pass to reach the summit of Island peak. We will then trek back to Lukla and on the way we will do the sightseeing of Thyangboche monastery. After reaching Lukla we will fly back to Kathmandu and end our beautiful journey.

    Day 15: Kongma Dingma to Seto Pokhara (5,035m) via Honku Valley:

    After reaching the summit of Mera Peak, we will walk today through the remote valley of the upper yak pastures. One can enjoy the great panoramic mountain ranges within the route. The majestic views of Everest and Lhotse will surely mesmerize you. Trekking ahead for few more hours will take us to Seto Pokhara. Overnight at Seto Pokhara.

    Day 16: Seto Pokhari to Amphu Lapcha Base Camp through south (5,650m):

    We will today trek through the remote parts of Himalayas to reach the Amphu Lapcha base camp. This trail is a less crowded trail and we will rarely meet any trekkers and visitors even in high trekking seasons. We will then take a steep ascend beyond the White Lake and reach Honku valley. You will also get an opportunity to get a closer view of Chamlang Himal with hanging glaciers. Overnight at Amphu Laptsa Base Camp

    Day 17: Amphu Labcha Base Camp to Island peak Base Camp (4,970m):

    We cross the Amphu Labcha La pass (5,845m) then walk across the Amphu Labcha Glacier. Lhotse Shar Glacier and Imja Glacier are nearby. Our trail also half circles the Imja Tsho lake before walking on the main Island Peak Base Camp. Overnight in Base Camp.

    Day 18: Pre-climbing training and preparation day for the summit.

    After breakfast we begin pre-climb training. Our professional climbing guide will provide training on peak climbing techniques and the proper ways of using climbing gears such as the ice axe, climbing boots and harness, crampons, ascender. The training will also include using ropes to go up and down. Although it is not required to have prior training for Island Peak Climbing, we believe that some training experience will increase your confidence and climbing skills to increase the chances of scaling the summit as well as to fully enjoy the experience. We can spend rest of the day walking around or resting for the next day’s big climb. Overnight at Tented camp.

    Day 19: High Camp to Island peak (6,189 m) & back to Base Camp (4,970 m):

    Today is the big day you are looking for in the whole trip. We wake up around 1 am and take hot tea/coffee and breakfast. After short easy walk trail hit steep climb to the high camp. After the high camp we climb the rocky path then following snow path to the summit glacier. The guide fix a rope when and where it is required. While climbing through the rocky and glacier path fixed rope and man rope both will be used for safety. There are two newely formed crevasses where will be using ladders to cross them. After enjoying summit views and taking breathtaking pictures we descend to the base camp. Overnight at tented camp.

    Day 20: Reserve Day:

    We have allocated an extra day as a spare day in case of problems with the weather or acclimatization. Overnight in Tented Camp.

    Day 21: Island Peak Base Camp to Pangboche (3,800m):

    We will begin our descent and reach pangboche. After breakfast, we will start climbing downhill and reach Chhukhung. We will cross a river over Imja Khola. One can get am opportunity to view the beautiful villages, grasslands and landscapes during the trail. Overnight at Pangboche.

    Day 22: Pangboche to Namche Bazaar (3,440m):

    After breakfast we walk to Namche via Tengboche, we can visit the Tengboche Monastery. After we visit monastery in Tengboche trail follow steep descent and leads us back along the Dudh Kosi river. We keep a lookout for wild life such as mountain goats, snow leopards, colorful pheasants, etc., while we pass through the forest by the trail. After passing a Chorten, we reach the army camp at of Namche Bazaar where we want to take a long last look back to Lhotse, the tip of Everest and Tengboche. Overnight in Namche Bazaar.

    Day 23: Namche Bazzar – Lukla: (2,800m):

    This day consists of walking about 5 hrs starting with sunshine great views of the Everest, Lhoste, Nuptse and Ama Dablam. There is a steep descent towards a bridge over the Dudh Kosi at (3250m), which is deepest valley after Namche and before Base Camp. Then we will be climbing up a zigzagging path through rhododendron bushes. Some superb mountain view towards Tengboche, Overnight at Tea house / Lodge

    Day 24: Fly back to Kathmandu:

    Early morning fly back to Kathmandu. You will have a free day for shopping and you can also explore the streets of Kathmandu.

    Day 25: Free day in Kathmandu:

    Free day in Kathmandu. Overnight in Kathmandu.

    Day 26: Final Departure to home country:

    Transfer to airport for final departure to onward destination.
