    Mt. Makalu, the fifth highest mountain of the world is located in the northern east region of our country and is located just 14 miles away from the highest mountain of the world. Mt. Everest. This trek tales the trekkers to the beautiful land of Makalu region where you can explore and see lots of majestic things. Mt. Makalu Expedition is one of the most challenging and difficult treks of the world which requires good physical stamina and previous trekking experience to complete this trek. One can see the magnificent views of mountain ranges along with an opportunity to explore a wide variety of flora and fauna found in the Makalu region.

     

    Mt. Makalu Expedition offers the visitors with the spectacular panoramic views of Himalayas including some of the highest mountains of the word such as Mt. Everest (8848m), Chamlang Himal, Lhotse, Pumori, Annapurna and other many beautiful mountain ranges. Some of the major attractions of this trek is the Makalu Barun National Park, Makalu Barun valley, ancient Sherpa settlements, etc.

     

    Makalu Expedition trek starts with a scenic flight to Tumlingtar from Kathmandu. We will start our trekking from Tumlingtar and head to Arun valley which is also known as the deepest valley of Nepal. Then we will continue our trek via different authentic Sherpa, rai and Limbu villages and reach to Sedua. Trekking through Num will lead us to the famous Shipton Pass (4210m) from where we will go to Arun valley to enjoy the scenic views of Mt. Makalu and Chamlang Himal. We will then trek ahead to reach the base camp pf Mt. Makalu. We will start our climb to the summit of Mt. Makalu from the base camp which is going to be challenging and more difficult. The summit of this mountain offers the visitors the spectacular mountain views which will surely mesmerize you.

    Day 01: Arrival at Kathmandu (1400m):

    Namaste and welcome to the country of Nepal. You will be welcomed by our representative in the Tribhuvan International Airport and then transferred to our hotel in Kathmandu. At evening, you will be welcomed by an authentic Nepalese cuisine in one of the typical Nepalese restaurants of Thamel and then we will do a briefing about the itinerary of our trip. Overnight at hotel in Kathmandu.

    Day 02: Kathmandu valley sightseeing including Bhaktapur and Lalitpur:

    After an early morning breakfast, we will head towards the beautiful and ancient places of Kathmandu valley which includes the world heritage sites, temples, places and other many beautiful things. Talking about Kathmandu, this place is a paradise to the tourists of all over the world and one can get an opportunity to relax his/her body form head to toe by doing the sightseeing of some of the iconic things of the world. You will be taken to Pashupatinath temple which is one of the most religious and historical temples of Kathmandu. Thousands of devotees from Nepal, India and all over the world come to this ancient temple for their rituals and celebrations. After the visit of Pashupatinath, we will drive for 15-20 minutes to do the sightseeing of Bouddhanath stupa. After exploring these historical monuments, we will be doing the sightseeing of ancient Durbar squares of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur. Visiting Lalitpur and Bhaktapur will give you an opportunity to see the living goddess, Kumari and explore the ancient streets filled with arts and architects. A refreshing evening walk on the streets of Thamel and Basantapur will make you feel Kathmandu a really cool and historical place and you will also explore lots of new things in these streets. At afternoon, we will be back to our hotel and do the briefing of Everest Expedition trip. You will be guided about some of the important rules and suggestions for the trip such as what is your responsibility, what to do and what not to do on the trek? You will be then introduced to your fellow expedition staffs and guides and relax the hotel after dinner. Overnight at Hotel.

    Day 3: Drive from Kathmandu to Sotikhola [710m/2328 ft] 8 – 9 hours

    We will set off early today for Sotikhola from Kathmandu. During the drive, we enjoy views of the Nepalese countryside along with the mountain sceneries. We will be driving To Dhading Besi and then to Arughat which will be a rugged road. Upon reaching Arughat, a major town in the region, we drive further towards Sotikhola. Overnight in Soti Khola and includes breakfast, lunch and dinner.

    Day 4: Soti Khola – Maccha Khola [900m/2952 ft]: 6 – 7 hours

    After passing off the bridge, we trek through the excellent Sal backwoods, and then climb onto an edge above immense rapids on the Budhi Gandaki. Challenging and technical climb will take us to the summit of this beautiful peak. After the successful summit we will return to the base camp and then descend to Samdo.

    Day 43:  Samdo – Dharamsala/Larkya B. C. [4460m/14, 628 ft]: 4 – 5 hours

    Even today, we continue our walk down the edge, cross the wooden bridge over Budi Gandaki and begin walking upward.
