Trekking in the mighty Kanchenjunga region is a dream come true to all the trekkers and mountaineers of the world. This trek takes the trekkers to the peaceful and less known Kanchenjunga region and one can explore the hidden beauty of Kanchenjunga region. Although this trek is less popular and less crowded, but if you wish to trek on the Himalayas of our country and want more of Nepal then this trek is the ideal trek for you. This peaceful region is blessed by the world’s third highest peak, Kanchenjunga which is a jewel in the Eastern Himalayas and is located in the Nepal-India border.
Kanchenjunga region offers a wide variety of beautiful things starting from the magnificent views of Himalayan ranges to an awesome opportunity to explore the unique lifestyle and culture of people living in this region. One can do the sightseeing of some of the highest mountain ranges of our country such as Everest (World’s highest mountain), Annapurna, Lhotse, Kanchenjunga West, also known as Yalung Kang, Kambachen (7,903m), Jannu (7,710m), Jongsong (7,483m), Kabru (7,353m), Tent Peak (7,365m) and the Twins (7,350m). You will also be exploring a wide variety of flora and fauna found in this region.
Kanchenjung region trek starts with a flight to Bhadrapur and then to Suketar. We will then drive to Taplejung and start our trek and reach Phurbu. Trekking via Chirwa, Sekathum will take us to Gunsa. The trail includes many fascinating places of Annapurna region which include Sinion Phedi, Sinion La, Margin La, Khebang and other many beautiful places of our country. Return journey will start with a drive to Birtamode and then fly back from Bhadrapur to Kathmandu.

Day 01: Arrival at Kathmandu (1400m):
Namaste and welcome to the country of Nepal. You will be welcomed by our representative in the Tribhuvan International Airport and then transferred to our hotel in Kathmandu. At evening, you will be welcomed by an authentic Nepalese cuisine in one of the typical Nepalese restaurants of Thamel and then we will do a briefing about the itinerary of our trip. Overnight at hotel in Kathmandu.
Day 02: Kathmandu valley sightseeing including Bhaktapur and Lalitpur:
After an early morning breakfast, we will head towards the beautiful and ancient places of Kathmandu valley which includes the world heritage sites, temples, places and other many beautiful things. Talking about Kathmandu, this place is a paradise to the tourists of all over the world and one can get an opportunity to relax his/her body form head to toe by doing the sightseeing of some of the iconic things of the world. You will be taken to Pashupatinath temple which is one of the most religious and historical temples of Kathmandu. Thousands of devotees from Nepal, India and all over the world come to this ancient temple for their rituals and celebrations. After the visit of Pashupatinath, we will drive for 15-20 minutes to do the sightseeing of Bouddhanath stupa. After exploring these historical monuments, we will be doing the sightseeing of ancient Durbar squares of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur. Visiting Lalitpur and Bhaktapur will give you an opportunity to see the living goddess, Kumari and explore the ancient streets filled with arts and architects. A refreshing evening walk on the streets of Thamel and Basantapur will make you feel Kathmandu a really cool and historical place and you will also explore lots of new things in these streets. At afternoon, we will be back to our hotel and do the briefing of Everest Expedition trip. You will be guided about some of the important rules and suggestions for the trip such as what is your responsibility, what to do and what not to do on the trek? You will be then introduced to your fellow expedition staffs and guides and relax the hotel after dinner. Overnight at Hotel.
Day 03: Fly from Kathmandu to Bhadrapur and drive to Taplejung:
We will take a scenic flight to Kathmandu and then drive to Taplejung. This will be the starting point of our trek and then we will trek to Lalikharka on another day. Overnight at Taplejung.
Day 04: Trek to Lalikharka:
We will start our trekking journey from Taplejung. Trekking through green lush forests will take us to Lalikharka which is a beautiful village in Panchthar district of our country. Overnight at Lalikharka.
Day 05: Lalikharka to Khesewa:
Our today’s day starts with an early morning breakfast. We will then take an easy downhill until Phundrawa. From here we will begin our ascent and reach the Phumphe Danda. Another easy ascent will bring us to Khesewa. Overnight at Khesewa.
Day 06: Khesewa to Mamankhe:
After our breakfast, we will begin our trek and reach Kabeli Khola. We will start trekking along the Kabeli Khola and reach near to a beautiful stream. After walking for sometimes, you will bewelcomed by the magnificent views of Himalayan ranges. Overnight at Mamankhe.
Day 07: Mamankhe to Yamphudin:
Today’s trek will be an easy walk to the uphill alongside the Kabeli Khola. We will trek ahead and cross a suspension bridge which is near a waterfall stream. Trekking ahead for few hours will bring us to Yamphudin. Overnight at Yamphudin.
Day 08: Yamphudin to Tortong:
Today’s walk will be an easy walk as we will be walking through a common trail which is used by the farmers and then we will pass the terraced fields. We will be walking along the trail of Amji Khola. Trekking ahead will bring us to Tortong.
Day 09: Tortong to Cheram:
We will start our today’s trek after an early morning breakfast, we will start our steady climb and reach Simbuwa Khola. We will enjoy walking in the beautiful Lalung valley which offers the spectacular views of mountain ranges. Overnight at Ceram.
Day 10: Acclimatization at Cheram:
As we are continuously trekking in the higher altitude, we need to acclimatize on this altitude. We will take a rest day at Cheram and visit the nearby places of Cheram. We will be exploring the areas around Young glacier. Overnight at Cheram.
Day 11: Cheram to Ramchaur:
We begin our short trek after breakfast. From Cheram, we ascend for some time before reaching the snout of the Yalung Glacier. It is a beautiful walk on a valley trail. We also cherish the views of several Himalayan peaks. We pass through a small settlement of Lapsang before reaching Ramche. Overnight in Ramche.
Day 12: Ramchaur to Yulung Base camp and back to Cheram:
From Ramche, we walk further up the valley. We then follow a stream before climbing on the moraine top until confronted by Kanchenjunga’s southern face. We walk further ahead for a glimpse of the Jannu Himal. We continue our trek further towards the Oktang Monastery. From here, we climb further up and reach the Yalung Base Camp. The views from the base camp are extraordinary. Kumbakarna (Jannu), Nyukla Lachung and other Himalayan peaks are close by. We descend and spend the night at Cheram.
Day 13: Cheram to Sele La:
After our early morning breakfast, we will start to trek and cross four passes in the trail. We will trek ahead and cross the first pass, Mirgin La pass. Second pass will be the Sinion La Pass and third will be Sele La Pass. Overnight at Sele La Pass.
Day 14: Sele La to Ghunsa:
After an early morning breakfast, we will trek ahead and head north with Tangbgharma Danda. We will reach a chorten marked by prayer flags. We will descend through the dense rhododendron, oak and pirch forests to reach Ghunsa. Overnight at Ghunsa.
Day 15: Ghunsa to Kambachen:
From Ghunsa, we will trek furthermore and trek along the river bank with the extraordinary views of mountain ranges. We will then cross a bridge at Rampuk kharka and trek along a landslide area tp reach Kamabchen. Overnight at Kambachen.
Day 16: Kambachen to Lhonak:
Today will be another challenging day, and an early start is needed. We trek through rocky fields and large boulders on the hillside along the riverbank and arrive at a waterfall. We then cross a bridge to Ramtang monastery. We then come across a landslide section which we must pass through at a steady pace before descending to the river and finally arriving at Lhonak. Overnight in Lhonak.
Day 17: Trek to Kanchenjunga base camp.
From Lhonak, we trek towards the Kanchenjunga Base Camp. Our trail is alongside the gigantic Kanchenjunga Glacier. After passing Pangpema, we descend towards the Kanchenjunga Base Camp. The view from the base camp is extraordinary. Mt. Kanchenjunga, Jannu Himal, and other Himalayan peaks are ours to admire. We descend back to Pangpema to spend the night.
Day 18: Pangpema to Lhonak:
An easy descent will bring us back to Lhonak. Overnight at Lonak.
Day 19: Lhonak to Ghunsa:
We will today trek back to Ghunsa from Lhonak. An easy descent will bring us back to Ghunsa from Lhonak. Overnight at Lhonak.
Day 20: Ghunsa to Amjilosa:
On our today’s trek, we will descend towards Phale and then to Amjilosa. We will pass many ancient villages and monasteries to reach Amjilosa. Trekking along the dense rhododendron and oak forests will take us to Amjilosa. Overnight at Amjilosa.
Day 21: Amjilosa to Chirwa:
After walking for a while, we will see a beautiful waterfall nearby and then we will trek along a small village known as Solima. We will then cross the suspension bridge over Ghunsa khola. Trekking ahead and crossing another suspension bridge will take us to Chirwa. Overnight at Chirwa.
Day 22: Chirwa to Taplejung via Mitlung:
We will today trek to Taplejung by passing Mitlung village. An easy descent via Mitlung will bring us to Taplejung. Overnight at Taplejung.
Day 23: Taplejung to Bhadrapur:
A 9hrs drive from Taplejung will bring us to Bhadrapur. Overnight at Bhadrapur.
Day 24: Bhadrapur to Kathmandu:
Today, we will be taking a scenic flight to Kathmandu from Bhadrapur. On the remaining day you can stroll on the streets of Thamel and Durbarmarg. At, evening you will have a farewell dinner from our team and then tomorrow will be the departure day of our trek.
Day 25: Departure Day:
We will say a final goodbye to Nepal and our fellow team mates and then you will be transferred to the Tribhuvan International Airport and then transferred to your respective country.
